I figure this is a good place to start, right?
The endgame for this project would be a playable TTRPG set in an evocative world, supported by the fiction and visuals I create for the short companion webcomic.
I already have some initial ideas I can use to start, so i’m going to just start trying to make something!
Here’s my approach:
- Choose the visual design: Use Adobe Aftereffects and Clip Studio Paint to make a collection of visual templates I can experiment with. With these templates I can find a visual design for the webcomic and the TTRPG.
- Finish worldbuilding: I need to cement what’s up with this setting, what are the rules of the world and what kinds of stories and tones it can support.
- Write the fiction: I need to have a story! It should be short. This will act as the core of the project, the thing I come back to when I need to remember what this project should feel like.
- Design the TTRPG: Once I have the feel, look, and fiction I can make a system that is built to help make more stories that would fit in the setting.
I already have ideas for all four tasks and I don’t expect I will be completing them in order. That’s ok.
This is a fun side project that I can afford to mess around with for learning purposes. I’ll mess up and get lost, but as long as I push forward I will succeed.
