It’s been awhile!
Now that I’m graduated, expect to see more action around here. This site will serve as my digital portfolio and log of my development as an aspiring professional.
First off, you’ll be seeing me post about what I’ve learned these past four years completing assigned and personal projects.
I’ve really loved learning all these weird effects in the World and Stars project. This was one of the last workshops I did in the After Effects class. The tutorial was created by Rizat Graphics, they make lots of high quality After-Effects tutorials. Check out their channel!
This exercise is mostly a demonstration of the CC Sphere effect and the CC Cylinder effect.
To create the planet Earth, I placed a rectangular texture into the workspace and applied the CC Sphere effect.
For the text, I created a text object and then applied a CC Cylinder effect to it.
After animating the effects with motion, I layered the text in double and made sure that the front layer only rendered its text on the front side of the cylinder, while the back layer on rendered on the back. This created the illusion of the text wrapping around the globe.
After the globe and text was animated and rendered, I used the Motion Tile effect to animate the background stars so they move on a loop.
As for the rest, I added a glow to the globe texture under Layer Styles and separated the cloud texture a little more from the rest of the animation. If you look closely, you can see how I tweaked the motion of the cloud layer to move along the surface of the globe at a different rate than the globe’s spin.
On to the next one then.
’till next time!
