Art Week at Locust Projects

Hey all!

Last week I got the privilege to help out at the Locust Projects for their big Art Week event!

If you don’t know, the Locust Projects is an experimental art incubator in Little Haiti, Miami. Every year they let a handful of artists use their space to build and display their art. As long as its legal, they’ll let the artists do it!

Their current installation, La Esquinita by Tara Long, is a sugary monument to Miami’s history of exploitative progress. The building’s entire facade is redone to resemble a surreal bakery. Behind the false wall, a towering cake crumbles in the moonlight. During events, performers climb over the cake. In the back rooms, the Mosquito Club, DJs play their sets.

My job there was to greet guests and handle sales of the artist’s ceramics. So many people have been visiting! You can see some of the front room in my video above.

The installation will be open until January 17th, 2026. I’ll see you there!
